The Stones We Carry
Reading: Romans 8:1-4 - Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Devotional:
"There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." The religious leaders came with stones in their hands and condemnation in their hearts. Jesus came with grace. The stones we carry—guilt, shame, judgment of others—become unbearably heavy over time. Paul reminds us that condemnation has no place in the Kingdom of God. Yet how often do we pick up stones that Jesus never intended us to carry? We condemn ourselves for past failures. We judge others by standards we ourselves cannot meet. Jesus invites us to drop these burdens at the foot of the cross. The law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Freedom isn't found in carrying stones; it's found in leaving them behind.

Reflection: What guilt or judgment are you carrying that Christ has already forgiven?
